I have always been interested in travelling. It was half a year earlier in December when I knew I wanted spend my summer doing something different than I usually would. I wanted everything to be set in stone so immediately I began planning the moment the idea sparked in my mind. Luckily my same age triplet cousins in Alberta were just as in love with the the idea of trekking around the west coast creating memories as I was. Before I purchased my flight ticket we were already planning which music festival we wanted to be at. Squamish valley appealed to us the most so we instantly bought our 4 day ticket for the beginning of August.
Diving into this summer adventure was the best decision I ever made. I was able to bond with my cousins, learn new things about myself and experience our beautiful country on a new level.
Every single part of my trip was always a positive experience. We traveled through the mountains of British Columbia, camped for weeks without worries and basked in the good vibes that were all around us. I love being able to try new things and being out west and on my own for the summer allowed for so many ‘firsts’.
My favourite experience was staying in Tofino and learning how to surf on the Pacific Ocean of Vancouver Island. I vividly remember hanging out on my surf board waiting for the next set of waves to come through and thinking to myself about how perfect that moment was. I haven’t ever felt so content and happy.
This summer was arguably the happiest I have ever felt, a feeling I constantly have flashbacks about. They are all memories and experiences that I can’t wait to do again once I return to the west. I can guarantee British Columbia or Alberta will one day be my home.
