When I first met Drew, we were pursuing a mutual dream. One that at the time, seemed a whole lot closer than it does now. The dream of getting paid to snowboard with our friends. Something that felt a little bit like hustle at times, but it was really just 90% fun. We would grind all winter to create video projects, spending full nights digging in snow and ice, throwing ourselves down staircases countless times to catch the perfect ten second clip, only to do that dozens, and dozens more times before the spring thaw. A couple broken limbs and a broken back later, and our careers didn’t quite work out exactly as we had hoped(probably for the best), but that time period really was a ton of fun. Following his injury, Drew decided to stick with video and photo projects as a career and replaced snowboarding with something a little more gentle on the the landings, surfing. At this point, his portfolio of travel/adventure content, professional work and photography is massive, and chances are he has out-travelled you tenfold. This guys brain literally oozes creativity, a quality that in many ways, helped inspire me to focus on exploring my own innovative spirit. Since our golden years of boarding, I have collected a whole lot of experiences with this guy at home and abroad. If there was one thing I would tell you about Drew it would be this: upon meeting him, you will instantly realize that he tends to see the world through an entirely different lens than the rest of us, something that really does set him apart from the rest of the crowd.
I thought up some simple questions, and Drew answered them through photographs. Check it out.
